your money
changing the way you think about
Financial Life Planning is all about helping you understand where you are, and more importantly, where you want to be.
Once you know where you want to be, we can work together to plan how to get there.
Financial Life Planning can help you to define, achieve and live the life you truly deserve.

What is Life Planning?

Life planning is about us. It is about our hopes, fears, aspirations, dreams and our needs.

Life planning is a tool and a process that can help us take a step forward in the ongoing project of our lives. It can help us to cut away the 'shoulds' and 'oughts' and express our deepest needs and aspirations.

Done well and with the help of a caring practitioner, it can help us to make significant progress in discovering more about who we are, what we want and where we are going. It can be a resting place on the continuum of our lives, creating a wonderful opportunity to take stock, re-evaluate our priorities and create a new plan: A plan that helps us to make a meaningful connection between our money and our lives. Life planning allows us to live within the boundaries of our resources whilst reaching out for the fulfilment of our dreams and aspirations.
The tricky balance between dreams and resources
  • Life planning can be challenging, even a little scary.
  • A life planning conversation opens up the possibility that we may not be doing what we really want to be doing, that we may have taken a wrong turn on life's path.
  • We may find we have been climbing a ladder that's leaning against the wrong wall...

My belief is that the truth, painful or not, will set us free. And for that we need to bust a myth. Our financial resources and the way we manage them is not an activity that takes place within a vacuum in a financial planner's office with charts and graphs. Any financial plan should be driven by us, our needs and aspirations and not just by investment returns and tax advantages.

This is beautifully expressed by my friend and mentor, George Kinder.

“Money makes the dreams and aspirations of our lives possible; it brings them within our reach. Without sufficient money, we simply cannot do what we want to do – whether that means writing novels, building a thriving business that makes the world a better place, or spending more time with our children as they grow up. The notion that we can be free internally and not free financially is absurd, simply a further expression of the notion that soul work and money work exist in two separate and distinct realms. They are in fact woven together within the undivided space of our own beings.”
